Nestled in a peaceful valley near the traditional Asturian village of Barcia y Leiján, Finca Portizuelo lies just a short stroll from the iconic Portizuelo Beach. The charming seaside town of Luarca is only five minutes away by car—or a scenic 15-minute walk. Ideally located, the nearby Cantabrian Highway provides easy access to top destinations like Asturias Airport, and the cities of Avilés, Gijón, and Oviedo. Picturesque coastal villages, lush mountain trails, and breathtaking natural landscapes are all within reach.
Finca Portizuelo is nestled in a small valley, surrounded by meadows, gardens, orchards and woods. The spot has a very easy access to the nearby picturesque fishing village of Luarca, either by car through the charming rural town Barcia, or by walking from Portizuelo Beach.
Your Stay
Our rural hotel was born from the careful and sustainable restoration of an old farmhouse, using eco-friendly construction methods. Surrounded by forest and sea, this serene retreat offers an inspiring setting where comfort and nature coexist in perfect balance. Here, you’ll enjoy a week immersed in Spanish language and culture—enhanced by exceptional food, guided excursions, and local traditions.
Our Approach
Our program is clear, engaging and hands-on, and is designed for anyone who wants to learn Spanish or deepen their existing knowledge of the language.
We take a personalized, playful and participatory approach that makes learning grammar and vocabulary enjoyable and practical. Our focus is not only on classroom instruction, but on full-day immersion through guided visits, shared meals, conversations, walks, and leisure time.
This dynamic experience allows you to learn or improve your Spanish naturally, while also discovering the rich culture, cuisine, and history of both Spain and the Asturias region.
Activities
Over the course of the 7-day immersion program, participants enjoy:
• 24 hours of Spanish classes
• Excursions to sites of cultural and natural interest
• Shared meals with instructors and fellow guests
• Free time for relaxation, one-on-one consultations, board games, and reinforcing what you’ve learned
• Outdoor activities such as scenic hikes and walks around the estate are also included.
Weekly Schedule
The immersion week begins on Sunday afternoon/evening and ends at midday the following Sunday after breakfast and farewells.
After check-in and room assignments, participants receive their welcome packet and learning materials before gathering for dinner.
TENTATIVE WEEKLY ITINERARY
Sunday – Arrival Day
• From 03:00 PM: Arrival of participants, room assignments, registration procedures, distribution of information and educational materials.
• 07:45 – 09:00 PM: Welcome dinner at Finca Portizuelo
Monday to Saturday
• 08:00 – 08:45 AM: Breakfast at Finca Portizuelo
• 09:00 – 11:30 AM: Morning Spanish classes
• 11:30 – 01:00 PM: Walk or travel to lunch location
• 01:00 – 02:30 PM: Lunch at a local restaurant (or picnic during excursions)
• 02:30 – 05:30 PM: Afternoon activities (walks, cultural visits, games)
• 06:00 – 07:30 PM: Evening Spanish classes
• 07:45 – 09:00 PM: Dinner at Finca Portizuelo
• 09:30 – 11:00 PM: Free time, games, or casual conversation sessions
Sunday – Departure Day
• 09.00 – 10.30 AM: Breakfast and farewell.
